XOX Team from XOX Car Service Center participated in the first ever Davao 70.3 Iron Man 2018. Both Carlo Castro and Richard Verburg came in action for XOX team.  The team members both finished the 70.3 Iron Man in a stunning time of 5 hours and 44 minutes. Given the extreme hot circumstances on the day with temperatures well over 37 degrees, this was a very solid performance for both Carlo (an experienced Iron Man athlete) and Richard on his first ever Iron Man outing.

Carlo Castro will be participating the Cebu Iron Man later in the year so training is in full swing. Richard announced he will participate in another 70.3 Iron Man later in the year before moving up into the next stage. Both contenders are racing with an aim to finish the race. When more time is on hand, training may allow each team member of XOX to contend for a podium finish which no doubt will be there ultimate goal.

XOX supports GDL Asia in Dubai 24h 2018

On 12-13 January 2018, Team GDL Asia participated in the 11th edition of the 24 hours of Dubai organized by Creventic. Richard Verburg was one of four drivers of Team GDL Asia competing in a Lamborghini Huracan. Richard Verburg, partially sponsored by XOX Car Service Center in 2018, is well familiar with the Creventic Series and has participated in these events for many years. Creventic organizes events around the world such as endurance races in Barcelona, Paul Ricard (South of France), Austin Texas and many other exiting places.

During qualifying, it was Nigel Farmer from Hong Kong who put the car on 3rd position in the SPX class for Team GDL Asia. It was also Nigel Farmer, Asian Lamborghini Super Trofeo Champion, who started the 24 hour race in Dubai for team GDL Asia. Within 15 minutes into the race, Nigel was forced to visit the pits with a brake caliper issue. The Team managed to resolve the issue quickly but it meant that the entire team had to work hard to fight their way back from the back of the grid. Richard Verburg from Hong Kong, was next into the car followed by Lim Keong and then Gerald Tan both drivers from Singapore.

The 2018 24 hours of Dubai attracted 95 cars to the starting grid for this popular endurance race. People with experience in endurance events know that anything is possible until the finish flag. It was therefore no surprise that team GDL Asia fought back very hard to an overall 25th position with consistent quick lap times and good team efforts to run drivers in double stints. The team of mechanics were performing quick pit stops and the race was under control with an outlook of a 3rd place finish within the SPX class. Unfortunately, with 16 hours into the race, bad luck struck again and the car had to retire with an engine issue. This meant a DNF (Did Not Finish) for this years 24 hour of Dubai event however, the team and the drivers remain committed to other races in 2018 as the driver line up and team package have all the ingredients for an overall successful podium finish.
